Typical of the mid-twentieth century, 5-finger vases are distinguished by their originality and color.
Each piece is unique because they are made from blown glass (or tilted glass).
The process is as follows:
The artisan melts the glass at a very high temperature (1300°c), making the material malleable.
Using a blowpipe, the glassmaker inflates the molten glass to form a bubble (or parison), making the material malleable.
He then uses a continuous blowing technique to create the volume of the desired piece.
On these unique vases, you’ll notice a few air bubbles trapped in the material, an integral part of artisan glass production. They are a unique testimony to the melting process once the piece has taken shape.
5-finger vases can be recognized by an opening, called a “mouth”, made up of 5 branches of different shapes and sizes, representing the 5 fingers of the hand. They are often brightly colored, shimmering and may include a few air bubbles, making them original and elegant.

The pontil (a metal rod applied to the base of the vessel to hold it in place during manufacture), often leaves a ring shape on the base, known as the “pontil mark”.
